| In response to Skootle, the thing is it's really godmoding magic if you can see through /every/ kind of magic, even the rare ones, if you're a general mage- especially if your specialty is healing and elemental. Being strong in magic doesn't automatically mean you can match someone who is a specialist mage- since her magic is strong I'm sure that if she was /looking/ for one she could spot some, but not just automatically pick up on it. And can you honestly say that her mother trained her enough in illusions to match someone who has worked only with illusions for thousands of years? And some dragons can see through illusions, but dragons, not humanoid dragons. You would never consider Riddel a beast who can transform into a humanoid, right? You'd consider her a humanoid who can transform into a beast? There's the difference.
I asked about it because some people do have a special ability, like Tiras and Raiz.

| I made a new section for this. Mostly because I'm sick of going "Hey! There's a new post! The story is advancing!" and then go to it and see that it's someone talking about whether someone else's character can see through illusions.
Skootle, sorry if I seemed derogatory. I didn't mean to. I was just talking about characters who studied magic. If a character has some supernatural ability that's coded into their genetics or whatever, I have nothing to say. You made up the race, where is it my place to say what the race can do? But here is a suggestion: since your character transforms, how about she only has dragon abilities while she's a dragon? That would add some amount of conflict to your character. Like they're walking around in circles cuz of an illusion, and she doesn't notice until whatever happens and she transforms. Then she notices and the day is saved. And all the other characters go "Thanks for wasting our time."
And since this thread was made a minute before mine was, I copied and pasted my post over to here. So delete that other thread so we don't have a war over which title was better.

| Well, I DO like that idea Ian, a lot actually, but I don't know if it'll work. Because even though I've said it's because her dragon blood, I keep getting told "She can't do it just because she's a mage!"
and it's not godmoding if your character can fool every character? (except jess's lol) because you disagreed with Raiz being able to sense illusions too
"(((OOC: You sure that Raiz would be able to sense illusions based on that?"
And I never said that riddel could see through EVERY type, show me where I said that? lol.

| Raiz I'm assuming can sense illusions put on herself, like if Leila made herself look like someone else, he would know it's really her because of her scent.
I think Ian's idea is fine, that she can see illusions when in dragon form, but not her normal form because she's a humanoid, not a dragon.
And no, it's not godmoding if only a few people can sense illusions because it's her only magic, and there are people who can sense it- other illusionists, people who have trained with illusions, sometimes strong mages who look for it specifically, and people with special abilities like Tiras and Raiz. It would be a rather useless thing to specialize in if everybody with magic could tell, even if they hadn't received any of the training that she had. It's godmoding if a mage can automatically sense the magic of a powerful specialist even though he/she focuses on a different area. Like Ian said, going to college doesn't mean you can build bridges.

I love it when people tell me about my race =\ Glad you approve of his idea though. - NamelessWonder wrote:

That's awesome you think riddel is so cool she counts as everybody with magic! I must be doing something right =D - NamelessWonder wrote:

So, now you're accusing me of godmoding because she can simply SENSE it? And I get the college metaphor, although I don't agree with it in this case because she has dragon blood. I understand getting schooled in certain areas. This doesn't apply because it's a blood ability, but fine. Although, repeating a metaphor at me a couple of times isn't going to make me suddenly agree =\ But fine, as you are an admin, what you say goes, I'll go with it. It's not worth going back and forth, tbh.
